SuMi TRUST AM is the branding name of Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Asset Management Co., Ltd. (SMTAM) and its affiliated companies.The corporate history of SuMi TRUST AM can be traced back to 1924.The SuMi TRUST Group as it exists today was established in 2012 as Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Holdings, Inc. (SMTH), a Tokyo Stock Exchange First Section Listed Company with the registered code 8309.Until September 2018, SuMiTRUST AM was SuMi TRUST’s asset management entity for retail clients and Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, Limited (SMTB) was for institutional clients. The institutional asset management functions of SMTB were integrated into SuMiTRUST AM on October 1, 2018 to consolidate SuMi TRUST’s investment capabilities into one entity. This integration has resulted in SuMiTRUST AM’s balance of assets under management reaching USD 600 billion, making us one of the largest asset managers not only in Japan, but also in Asia.In the domestic market, most of our clients are institutional investors including public and corporate pension funds. In overseas markets, we are approached by global investors who have highly evaluated our capabilities in managing Japanese/global equities, as well as our indexing portfolio management abilities.SuMiTRUST AM is a 100% wholly owned subsidiary of SMTH. In addition, Sumitomo Mitsui Trust International Limited (SMTI) is a London based wholly owned subsidiary of SuMiTRUST AM and is SuMiTRUST AM’s client relationship management entity for Europe and Middle East.
